Tavy and Walkham rivers – August

The  Tavy and  Walkham rivers provided a stunning backdrop for the start of both walks on Saturday 22nd August.   Both groups wound their way along the beautiful wooded Walkham valley with its interesting landscape of deep mounds and hollows, and a masonry chimney, all evidence of earlier mining activity.  From here the long walk continued into the Dartmoor National Park.  It was a beautiful day and the terrain made for varied walks with some outstanding scenery.  Both the 4 mile and 8 mile walks finished in Tavistock where there was time for refreshment before heading home on the coach.

The next  two walks will be 26th September – Otterton & Exmouth and 31st October, Crooks peak to Cheddar.   The short walks will be approx.  4 Miles, the longer Ramble will be 7-8 miles.  Anyone interested in coming along can contact Hilary 07941631839 or walkingwithstmarys@hotmail.co.uk
